| Been here and fished for two days and haven't seen a fish. Cold and Rainy water temps in the low 60's. I've never fished rock structure before, not sure what the best approach is. What depth, lure speed, ect.. Would really appreciate any advice on fishing under these conditions, I'm here for three more days and would love to get on at some fish. Hope you guys can help me, thanks in advance Chris |

I like to throw belivers and jerkbaits in those conditions, something you can fish a bit slower. This time of the year I like to make sure that I start catching as many fish off the tips of points/reefs as I do in the shallow shelfs, so I like to make sure not to cut off any points. Just about any marked rock on the map will hold a fish. Also don't overlook green weeds if you can find them. If you haven't been seeing any on rocks, look for some green weeds in sandy bays next to points as the fish could have moved in there. Make sure you fish both sides of the weeds though as I usually see more fish on the inside than the outside.
Last year when I was up there I fished DC's on both the rocks and weeds but had good weather.

I hope fishing has gotten better. I will be up there on Monday staying at Hay Island. I would also try to focus on current/neckdown areas. One that comes to mind is the channel off little blueberry island, there always seems to be current there and the walleyes and perch are there to. Give trolling a shot. On the rocks I'd be slow rolling big blades and and have my partner throwing a Jr. or other small bladed bait. Or using something like a Manta or Warlock(glide baits). Try a walleye colored bulldog in the pro series size(size below a pounder). Hows the allege bloom/Where have you been finding it? Today is windier than than sh*t and tomorrow and monday is supposed to be windy also. I'd get outta the wind back in Stony or Stevens Bay. If you have a chart take a look at Burrow Bay. The long shallow finger that comes off the North east side is usually really clear DARK water. Might find some warmer temps there. Just outta curosity, where have you been fishing? Best of luck. | Are there any suckers available there? If you have a clicker reel and a Quickstrike rig along with you, live bait could be the ticket under these conditions. |

| We're fishing out of RedWing lodge, the wind is pounding and boat control is extremely tough. We fished the King Islands Day one south of Blueberry and have been sticking around camp mostly after that.
We figured that with the transition, slowing down and fishing deeper breaks and reefs might be the ticket. |

Location: Lake of the Woods, Morson, Ontario | Fishing has been a bit tougher under the weather conditions of the last few days, but our guests have been seeing and catchign some fish. One boat got 4 and lost a real good fish on a suick on Friday in the all day rain.
The bigger fish hit a slowly worked suick. Smaller cranks (baby depth raider twitched, with long pauses) was the best strike producing lure for them during their 4 days. Small rock points and rock shelf type shoreline related rock have been giving them the best action. Also work the structure a couple cast lengths out and then move in this time of year when the weather is tough and fish are a bit sluggish. Current and neck down areas are great advice as well.
The action has definitely taken a turn for the worse in the cold front. The quote from one of the guys that just left was "i've never worked so many good spots so thoroughly had seen such a low level of activity." He's been fishing this area for years so would be a good gauage of what was happening out there this week.
Good news is that the weather looks to be stabilizing. Sun in the forecast and winds calming down Tuesday.

Location: Land of 10,000 Lakes | Trip update: Spruce Island Camp Sept 13-18th
My wife and I got our butts kicked by Lake of the Woods on this trip. Moved some fish on 13th, 14th and 15th. Wife caught a 40". I hooked a mid 40's only to have it throw the hooks 10 seconds later. Also hooked into something VERY large...got two monster head shakes and then slack line....somehow my line was cut cleanly off. I'm guessing it must have been the gill plates. Saw 12-14 fish the 1st 4 days most were pretty lazy and chasing large cranks.
We didn't see a fish after the monster cold front the rolled through on Thursday night/Friday morning. We talked to multiple walleye groups that were catching an occasional muskie jigging in 25-30' of water on Fri/Sat.
Water temps started between 61-62 early in the week and were running as cold as 55-56 on Sat AM. Fish seemed to be completely in transition and tough to locate let alone catch.
