| I talked to a group just returned from there last week. They did pretty well in weeds and on the reefs throwing Black/Orange bucktails, and surface baits in the evenings.
I used to fish there out of Red Wing Lodge. Always did well this time of the year on Spinnerbaits in the reeds with weeds on the windy shores. Topwater was good, as were gliders on the reefs. |

| Just got back 7/27.
The hot colors were bright orange/gold/chart glide baits. Like Phantoms, weighted Reef Hawgs and Squirkos.
Shorelines with weeds and rocks were best.
Herpies Squirko was the number one bait. |

| Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply. So how did you do out there? Any big ones? When did you have your most sucess? Morning, mid day, evening. Good luck on future outings. You should try and make it to the Whitefish or Kenora area in October. There are some real monsters out there. I was only able to get out once last year, but some friends of mine caught some monsters in the 30 to 45 pound range. The biggest was a 52 pounder caught up near Minaki on the Winnipeg river. All fish were caught trolling at about 4 mph with minnow type baits. My fav is the Mag Rapala and beilevers.

| Hi again,
Our best time of the day was around 6:30pm give or take an hour most days. We had some action throughout most days but 6:30 seemed like we always had something going. I'm sure you've seen the bit window pattern emerge after fishing a few days in a row. It was strange though, because Bucher's calender showed late evenings to be the best and we didn't have much going at dusk, even when we went back for ones we moved earlier that day.
GregM and I shared the boat that week. He caught the largest at 42" 17lbs.(got to try my scale out). He had three (estimated) four footers hit but no hook ups and I only had the same four footer follow two different days. We, also caught numberous pike up to 33" and five muskies around the 30" mark. Overall, not a bad week, I've had better and worse weeks on Sabaskong this time of the year. |

| Gregger,
Fish is much prettier than you![] Wish I could have made it up with the wife that week. Next year for sure.
Jo, how man baits did Greg bring in the boat each day? Less than 800?
You are having a great year! Keep it up.
Tight Lines,

| He managed to keep his baits down to his Lakewood and a couple of clear planos.
Only thing was his Lakewood is so heavy I lost 2MPH[:)] |
