Location: Des Moines IA | I just bought my first GPS unit for the Tuffy, and now I am wondering which map chip to get. I got a Eagle FishElite 642c, takes the same chips as a Lowrance unit. Which chip do you use, and why? |

I've got a Premium North chip for sale if you're interested....

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | It'll depend on which lakes you fish. Take a look at what each chip offers in terms of the lakes that you fish. One chip might have one lake and not another. And if they have the same lakes, one might be in 1 foot contours while the other is in 3 foot contours. Take a look at that and weigh things out.
If all things are equal after that, go with Lakemaster. The Lakemaster chip should respond quicker in your unit and will also zoom in further. I have both a Navionics and Lakemaster. I usually have the Lakemaster chip in. But it depends where I'm at, sometimes my Navionics is better.

| I am not trying to hijack the post, but since we are on the subject, does anyone know of a map chip that covers the Minaki, On area, Winnipeg River? We fish there every year but I would like to have a chip to cover it.

| Both Navionics north and the Navionics Canada chip will have the Winnipeg river on it. It will be the Canadian Hydrographic mapping of it. |

Location: Suburban Chicago | I made my US and Canada maps for a Lowrance522c using their software, mapcreate 6 and 7. They're not the HDS/LakeInsight chips but it was $69x2 for anywhere I'd ever fish. A HUGE map fits onto an SD card. My regular chip has all of the central and norther midwest PLUS those parts of Canada the boat or the unit go. |
