Picked up a MI Jimmy a few weeks back and haven't had much time to use it but was hoping somebody would give me some pointers on how to work that bait.
Thanks in advance.

I use an 8 foot rod and kind of twitch and pause it. It's really a cool bait and you kind of have to experiment with it a little. If you try to work it fast like a glider it just kind of goes up and down and doesn't do much. When you find that sweet spot and get it working right for you that thing can be deadly.

Agreed with Well. The action going faster kinda stinks IMO.

I use longer/slow pulls with it and it jumps off to the sides very nicely. Give it some slack after the pulls/twitches and it will hang in the water pretty well.

Son and I were out on a small action lake today and nothing was moving on blades or topwater so i put on a jimmy. First time we've given them an honest try. Had a 40 hit one in first 10 minutes on same weedbed we pounded twice with blades....jumped about 3 feet in the air and threw it. Came back to the weedbed about an hour later. 2 hits within 5 minutes...both again threw the hooks after short hookups...my son says if you were using a blade you would have caught those you know...i said i don't think it would have hit a blade...so he puts on a jimmy and 10 casts later a 32 in the net!!! I was retrieving fairly fast to keep it in the top 3 feet of water over weeds. Fast hard jerks was working pretty well. My question is are you supposed to bury that trailer hook into the tail or just let it hang...i was burying one barb in with 2 exposed but obviously it's having a hard time hooking up with 3 fish lost in 4 hits. Maybe just bad luck but i wonder if there are any modifications that can be made to help.

Thanks guys. I'm also curious if that bottom hook should be buried in the tail or not.

That Jimmy also has a bend "U" on the back of the harness that does not have a hook on it. I have wondered if you could just put a hook on that and get better hook-ups??? Anyone tried that yet? I have only tried mine a few times so it has not gotten enough water time to comment on it yet.

Mike, I watched Brad from MI throwing the Jimmy on MH TV and he did have the hook in the tail! He said to give it 2 ft. pulls and feed the rod back allowing slack in the line and reel slack in and repeat!

James, I did put another hook where you said but have not takin the lure out of the box since then! You should never miss a fish after doing this as there are hooks sticking out of that thing everywhere! LOL!
