I'm looking at this new reel by Abu Garcia. Have you used this reel? Do you like it? Would you reccommend this reel? Thanks for any info!

Todd

I own several of their bass models and love the heck out of 'em! They are durable and extremely smooth,

I think some muskie guys are hesitant to use them because they are lower profile and they might think that due to their size, they wont be able to provide the "horse-power" needed to pull big water displacing baits like double 10's or 13's.

The only reason i don't currently own one is the price. but I have played with them and know full wel the quality Abu Garcia puts out. they stand behind their products.

that reel is bigger than it looks and I would own 7 of them if i could win the lottery
I think you will be happy with them!

I'm hesitant because I've never had an Abu that I didn't blow up in two months...I am however hoping the Toro holds up this year, low profile/high durability is almost too good to be true, my fingers are crossed

I got one this year also. The first one had the drag give out the first time i used it, I had it locked down and when i was done for the day i backed it off as usual. And it would not tighten down after that. The wheel would spin and tighten down but no drag pressure...very odd. I returned it and the second one started getting a loose handle. I would tighten it down but it would loosen within 30 minutes. Found the threads on the handle nut were too loose fitting on the handle...tried using threadlocker and that would not hold it either. Called Abu and they sent me a replacement nut...much better fit and it seem to be holding. Disappointed i've had this much trouble in only a month of heavy usage but we'll see how it goes.

i have a toro 50 and love it. Its a nice reel that comes with a power handle so thats nice. It holds alot of line, is super smooth and has a clicker for night trolling. Overall great reel

Love mine too, got both 1 HS and 1-regular. I also am buying another one this month as well, if that tells you anything. Light, low profile, good size, and very durable = Happy angler!
