Want to buy one. Electric start tilt etc with the straps to hold in place on a 2000 ranger 619. Any input appreciated. Input on remote setup Want to do it right the first time and not cut corners so I'm satisfied from the start and not chasing my tail changing setup a year from now

With that setup I think you would be fine with a 9.9 prokicker.

I've got a 2008 Pro Kicker 9.9 on my Tuffy X-190. It barely makes 5.5mph wide open with the big motor up and for normal trolling speeds musky fishing it runs pretty near wide open all the time. As a result it sucks more gas than you would think. I wanted the 15 but it wasn't available when I got the boat. Now I'm waiting for an E-TEC 15 to come out before I replace it. I am not impressed with the low speed idle characteristics. Even after I regapped the plugs that came set wrong from the factory according to the owners' manual, it still is kind of rough at the lowest speed. It cold starts harder than any small motor I've ever had except for an Evinrude 2-stroke vintage 1990 that fouled plugs a lot and a 1952 Merc 10 HP we used to have on a 14 footer. Even when it's warm out you need to choke it and wait for it to warm up a bit before you dare take the choke off and put it in gear. On the good side the self centering strap is slick and the power trim is worth every penny for fine tuning the motor position. It's an OK motor over all but I expected more.

Try a higher pitched prop on your 9.9 Almost.

Dealer says short shaft 20 inch. I want the longer 25 as I've had my old 9.9 short shaft prop come out of water in 3 foot rollers on Mille lacs. What do you guys recommend. Why can't I go long?

You have had your long shaft 20" kicker popping out in rough water? What boat are you running, and where do you have your kicker mounted? Motors come in short shaft (15"), long shaft (20"), and X Long shaft (25").

2000 ranger 619 on drivers side as I only have one windshield and tend to cast out passenger side. Better weight balance when 3 people in boat. Can't remember what length my old 9.9 Bigfoot tiller shaft was. If it was a 15 then a 20 would be fine. My 2000 rangers transom seems smaller lower in water than the newer models. Maybe the 25" shaft would never clear water line and create drag going down lake.
