| i had an old Evinrude that ran like a top, and is still running with it's current owner.
also ran a Suzuki 4-stoke that was quiet and efficient, and trolled down like a dream.
my last couple motors have been Merc Opti's and now there will always be an Opti hanging on my transoms!

Location: madison wisconsin | I'm on my first boat. It's got a merc and has been pretty good. If I were to get a new one, I'd try the Evinrude E-tec. |

All I've (and my Dad) have ever owned over the past 55 years have been Mercury. They've been reliable and have performed very well. That said, my neighbor has a Suzuki and swears by it. I would really like to try a Suzuki the next time I'm in the market but as the old adage goes, if it isn't broken don't fix it. |

| My vote is for Johnson since it is the one on the back of my boat and paid for. If I was buying new today I would take a good look at an etech.

Location: New Brighton, MN | I have a 1982 75hp Evinrude "Sport" on my boat that has never failed me !!! (no overhauls) Yes, it is noisier and puts out a bit of exhaust, but can anyone claim that kind of longevity? I will be getting a new boat within a year or two, and it will surely have an Evinrude on it. |
