Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan | Try Minwax sanding sealer. It does not have to be stirred or shaken so you can dip your baits with no bubbles. It dries quickly and leaves a nice surface.

How well does the water base paints stick to the oil base sealer? |

Marie, Michigan | After the sanding sealer, I prime first with Krylon white or grey primer depending on what color the bait is going to be and then use water based createx or wildlife colors or polytranspar or a combination of and then top coat with Devcon 2ton. Never have had a problem with adhesion in hyndreds of baits.....the process is sound.

Location: Muskegon Michigan | I use Zars sanding sealer. It says oil based but it is really alcohol based . Great for my smaller baits in both cedar and hardwood. For the big stuff we use Kilz 2 stainblocker plus. It grips wood like no other waterbased sealer. Kingfisher |
