I'm debating on what reel i should buy for my larger jerkbaits (10"hughey pro sucker). So far i've founde 3 options:

- Daiwa Luna
- Shimano calcutta
- Quantum cabo

Wich on of these is the best for larger jerkbaits, and will last some time...

thanks,

Marcel

Hi Marcel,

Nice to see another big HR fan. I've been using the Cabo for Jim's lures for 3 years now and it seems indestructible. It handles even the 18" (2+ lb) Shakers easily.

Marcel,

I have to second the Cabo...for durability and especially value...If cost is not a big factor and you don't mind some extra weight the Shimano Calcutta 700 TE is one powerful and sweet reel...Take care...

I have been using an Abu Record so far all this season and it seems to work great...I also have the Diawa Luna and that thing is real hard to beat...I used to have a CTE 400 and loved it so I would say it is a toss up...

If you can find one , the black Big Game 7000cl. I would go toe to toe with my 7000cl against any other challengers out there. Kdawg

if you wanna save yourself some money, you know i'm going to have to say the shimano cardiff 300 or 400.
i like the 300 for the bigger stuff (and all my other normal sized baits)....the weight is low, i can fix them pretty well, and can set them up to throw anything with no problem.

point to ponder, you might want to consider (if you haven't already) at least bumping up to 120 power pro or even 150 power pro for the bigger, heavier stuff.

thanks for the reply's I think I will go with the quantum, especially after reading the comments and the review on tackle tour. Really like the fact that it is a low profile..

I would go for a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5601 JB (Jerk Bait). Its an extra strong special version made
for heavy jerkbaits. Im however not sure if its available outside Sweden or not. Please check it out at:

Luna for durability. I love my old millionaires.
