Where in the States(not Canada), do you feel is your best chance at a 50" plus Muskie?

In Wisconsin, I would say Pewaukee. In spite of being only 2400 acres, tremendous muskie fishing pressure, and a DNR that refuses to manage the lake for a trophy fishery, the lake cosistantly gives up 50"+ muskies every year.
In the USA, all the guys that I have talked to that fished the PMTT raved about the Minnesota fisheree.

I fish Pelican, Boom, and several numbers lakes in the area here in Rhinelander, WI, and feel I have an ecxellent chance at a 50 on both either Pelican or Boom any day. I have caught many over 50" on Pelican over the years, and one on Boom, but know of many more off the lake and the Wisconsin River there. My largest off pelican was 54 1/2, and I have seen heavier fish in that class caught since.

I know of two over 53 off the river in recent years, so there are true pigs there as well.

Lakes Erie/St Claire and the tributaries and connected waters are a good shot, Captain Larry Jones may be able to help you there. Chuck Altamore has taken several 50" class fish over the last few years of Vilas County waters, ask him the question in the Pro Perspectives forum or look back here often, he eventually will see the thread and answer. I know Trout,Big Saint, Little Saint, and others up there kick out a 50 now and again, so one might research those waters.

In fact, the Pro Perspectives board may be a great place to ask the question again!

Great Lakes waters may be a good bet.

You have a very good chance on most of the lakes in Vilas county and Sawyer county area.
