| With this warm weather, I wish I went out, anyways I went to a tackle store near my house southside of Chicago, and they had small suckers maybe 5 to six inches (chub size) what would be the best way to rig these? If we get another warm spell, I am going to have to shoot down to Evergreen and soak a few of these. Al[:0] |

| Alan, Rollie/Helens has some small Quikset Rigs in the back part of their catalog that may work...I got a couple last yr. but haven't used them yet. I think they were made by Partridge for around $4.50[:sun:] |

| Make your own. You musky nut. I think that the ones you were using will work fine for the small suckers. JUst change the type of lip hook you were using. Use a fine wire hook or crappie jig for the lip.[:p] |

| Your rig would be fairly small indeed. I would probably use a circle hook on such a small sucker. They don't sound big enough to get t-boned but ate head first. |

| Hi,
For smaller suckers I just leave the tag end of my line extra long after attaching a big saltwater jig(or heavy wire jig). I then just tie a treble to the end of the tag, place on the side of the sucker and voila, instant quickstrike. Keeps the sucker down without any extra weight attached to the line also.
Hope it helps

| These ones are nice http://www.baitrigs.com/quickset.html I use them in the spring with fat heads that size. Many hook sizes available. Land-0-lakes makes a nice smaller one that I’ll be trying this year.
Good Luck |

| Useing a quick strike rig with such a small minnow can cause a problem, most of the time they down the bait quicker than a hobo eating a ham sandwich, unless your going to be holding the live-bait rod in your hand and be ready to set the hook instantly you could end up with a swallowed treble hook. A very small circle hook should prevent this and allow you to cast (mustad demon 4/0 or 5/0) hope this helps.[:)] |

| Hey, I want to say thanks for all the info. I hope we get another spring like weekend and there is open water in Central Illinois, hey maybe if I don't get a muskie on small suckers, I could get a bass or walleye and inturn possibly use (only kidding, maybe not haha). Thanks, Al[:praise:] |
