Anybody here ever been to Witch Bay Camp on LOTW? If so, what did you think?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Its a VERY remote camp with wonderful people running it, great food, nice cabins, etc. Fishing for anything, Muskie, Smallies, Walleyes, is all good around that area.

Have you watched any of the Simply fishing (Bob Mehsikomer) DVD's, Video's or TV shows? Well he tapes some of them right from Witch Bay camp.

I have been there 3 times and will make my 4th and 5th trips this year. Ive stayed at a lot of other places but never more the twice until I found this place.

god bless

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm actually looking at it for an acquaintance of mine who is taking his wife on their first ever Canadian fishing trip, fishing for walleyes and smallmouths only.

Since they are first timers to Canada, I thought they may need some guide help, and heard that Witch Bay does a good job of putting people on fish, and that the smallmouth are pretty numerous in that area as well.

Thanks again,

Well I can say this much about the fishing there. Its awesome! I have a hard time myself fishing for Muskies since I am not a puriest of that species but when it comes to Walleye and Smallies I am in heaven up there. We have had many 100+ Walleyes in a day ranging from 16"-31". Smallies are a favorite of mine too and the Pro's that are at Witch Bay camp can put you on lots of them. I went out 2 years ago with one of the pro's and we caught over 60 in about 4 1/2 hours.
WitchBay camp itself is a drive in camp but after getting off the main road its still a 7 mile drive (thats how long there driveway is!) to get to the camp and thats a adventure in itself. Once there you will find a mixture of older original log cabins and also some brand new cabins. All are VERY comfortable and clean. The lodge is very nice and the food is about as good as it gets. If you are going to use a "camp" boat then you have a choice according to different price ranges. We normally use a camp boat just so we don't have to haul our boat up there. We normally choose the 17'+ Crestliner with a 50hp motor. Now THATS a camp boat! Every place else we have stayed has smaller slower boats.

Anyways, you would NOT go wrong staying there and for the money its well worth it.

Just received their brochure in the mail today. WOW! That's impressive looking. It's a 40 page magazine for goodness sake! I'm really leaning toward sending my friend there.

Any other feedback from people who have been there?

Thanks,
John

I have been there three times. All in early June. It's where I developed the muskie addiction. The owners are great, the food is good, and the cabins are nice to deluxe. Probably where I will take my wife the first time she goes to Canada. What I liked is you can go out with the camp pro's for a 1/2 or day, learn a little, and the cost is only tipping them. After paying for a trip like that, i don't have anything left over for guides. I'd tell your friend to bring a GPS, it's pretty easy to get lost if you go out of the main bay...

Thanks JLR. I see your located in Appleton. The guy who I'm researching this for, also lives in Appleton. If he decides on Witch Bay, I may put him in contact with you, if that's ok with you.

Let me know.

Thanks,
John
