After a little over a year of trying, I finally caught my first muskie by myself! I spent almost every weekend and quite a bit of vacation pounding the water to no avail. My wife thought I was crazy. It was extra special because my son was along and he netted it. I posted a picture in the August photo contest.

Thanks to all the M1sters and C&R Muskie club members who helped me learn how to catch them.

The only bad news is that I let my wife take the kids skiing and took out the lower unit. I'll need to catch a ride until it's repaired...

JLR,
Outstanding!! My sons grew up in the Muskie boat, and have stayed with it all these years, you have a great tradition started.

Remember and cherish that feeling when you caught your muskie. Bottle it up and use it during tough times. That awesome feeling only gets better as you catch more! It is undescribable to those who haven't done it too. Congratulations.

JLR,
AWESOME!!!
One thing I've learned on this site... There will be some who've caught many more muskies than you, some who've caught less, some who've caught HUGE ones, some who have caught only shorties. We all get excited when ANY musky is caught and released. It's hard work and rarely experienced by most anglers. Having only caught 5 muskies myself and only 1 over 30 inches I can tell you that this board supports your success and we all look forward to your next fish whenever it comes. GREAT JOB!

Congrats! My son netted my first 50+" muskie and is still fishing them. That was nearly 20 years ago. "As the twig is bent, so grows the tree."

Thanks guys,

It was great. It will give me enough mental fortitude to last another year or so!
