| Normally in the fall I have continued to cast and add a sucker to drag along. This year, I have decided to do some trolling. I have trolled in the past but normally in warmer months. Wondering what folks have found to work trolling as the air and water cools. Any help would be appreciated. | |||

Posts: 468 | I usually will slow my speed down to about 3 to 3.3 mph and usually troll bigger stuff this time of year. I like the Supernatural baits and still always have a big gramma or Jake in the spread. Depending on how many lines your allowed to troll keep mixing things up and trying different depths. I will include bucktails if I think fish are still using the weeds.

| Being in Northern WI, limited to one line. | |||

Posts: 468 | If I was by myself with one line I would swing for the fence then and troll a supernatural. If you don't have one of those, a 10 inch Jake or Depth Raider has caught a lot of Wisconsin Muskies over the years.

Well, I do have a Headlock I got in an auction on here to support a veteran's event. Might be time to give that a little longer try. It is in perch color and that is a big part of forage base on the chain where I live.

Posts: 1409 | I also like the Supernaturals this time of year, but have had good luck with Shallow Invaders, as well. As mentioned, throttle down to the low 3s. I like a trolling path that zig zags, as well. If it's a straight troll, give the rod a single pump about every 50 feet or so. If you have the rod in a holder, give a pull on the line in front of the reel every 50 feet or so.

Should have included more info in my original post.

For the shallower stuff, if you have a Giant Scamper made by hifin back in the day where lip is aluminum and bendable would be good for that shallower stuff. Done good over weeds on them, but weeds not necessary. Don’t be afraid to try a spinnerbait in fall either. Warmer days try hog wobbler, maybe with bow trolling motor. Adjusting the lip on hogwobbler to run just under surface, or put rod tip just under water to keep wobbler submerged. Also in those shallows, run a shallow bulldog, Or medussa. Lots of variables :)
