Location: Brighton CO. | There has been a fish advisory for eating fish since I was a kid (Mercury) and now more and more stuff gets into the food chain there's even pieces of plastic in everything. With more and more people it gets harder to have a clean environment. Sad but true. |

| That is the chain I live on. Fish advisories are not new but this is the first time I have seen an advisory about not eating deer. The other question I had is if eating deer from a five mile radius is bad, what about the hundreds of acres of potatoes grown in that same area. They are irrigated with a lot of well water. Also a cranberry marsh within the impacted area. |

Location: Brighton CO. | I know of a Cranberry marsh that has said to be a problem to some surrounding waterways (some residual pesticide at times)and a lot of the potatoes grown up north are for Lays Potato Chips. My grandparents used to go to a potato field in the fall and get free potatoes the workers would pile up. (if they were too big they could not use them) Not being able to eat a Deer very sad. Part of the up north life style is getting that Deer each fall.

| Frito Lay is a large land owner in our area. Corn and potatoes for chips. The Snowden potato is the gold standard for potato chips and it was developed in the Rhinelander area. |

From what I have read, PFAS has not been studied the way some other elements have been studied. They know it is incredibly persistent but unlike mercury, not something that has decades of study in it. The deer meat advisory covers an area of a five mile radius from the Stella Town Hall in Starks. That is some of the best deer area in Oneida county due to farming. I am on full alert any time I travel that area because of deer crossing the road. My partner in the Three Lakes Weds. night league laughed when I told him my primary goal was to make it home every Weds. night without hitting a deer but I was dead serious. Thanks to excellent brakes, I achieved that goal. |

| Yes, our lake association has been active on this issue, trying to get information and to involve local and state representatives. So far the only elected official outside of the immediate area to get involved has been Sen. Tammy Baldwin, who has held town hall meetings and tried to get the state to help those with impacted wells.
The reason I mentioned potatoes in an earlier post is that if that becomes an issue, Frito Lay may be forced to weigh in and they have the kind of clout that might shake some things loose. Frito Lay is a major land owner in the area and has several labs/testing facilities.
