Unfortunately, we have cloudy skies here in Rhinelander. Seems like that has been the case for the last couple years.

Posts: 1579 Location: Brighton CO. | A couple months ago we had some type of Lunar Eclipse where the moon was going to be blood red and we missed it because of rain. It's rare that we get the Auroras by me I live about 70 miles south of Wyoming. I have ap on my phone for the Auroras and where we can see them and sometimes they go as far south as mid Wyoming and when I've seen them here at home they have been weak at best. If I didn't know what to look far I would have missed them. We've seen them on our fishing trips in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. I'll be in Hayward new moon of October this year maybe with some luck we'll see them this year.

Great shot! Back in the early 90s, we rented a home in Marquette, directly across the street from Lake Superior, facing due north. Some of the light shows there were spectacular. One night I was reading after everyone else went to bed, suddenly bright lights shining through the closed curtains. Had time to wake my wife up and watch the show for almost 10 minutes. To the north, nearest land was Canada. Wish we would have had smart phones back then ;>).

Posts: 1391 | Tonight might be pretty good, too, if you have clear skies.

Posts: 1579 Location: Brighton CO. | Last night (9/14) the Aurora's showed up in the Denver area we went out to look for them but they were gone. Lots of pictures from Wyoming too. I have app on my phone and it said zero chance of seeing them by me. We live on the edge of town so went out were it was darker but it gets harder to find dark places people move out in the country and light the place up like Fort Knox. I would hate to see there electric bill.
