How do you tune your Suick?

None of mine run the same, but I love them anyways...

How do you tuna fish,
seriously You make sure all the eyes under the bait are straight (they act like rudders) make sure the eye in the front of the bait is centered,
Alot of times they are not screwed in the center so you may have to bend it.
Now depending on how deep you want it to go or the way you want it to run; for example if you want the lure to go down at a sharp angle bend the tail down, If you want to run it over the tops of weeds bend it just a little.
You are going to have to experiment and tune the bait for different applications.
But that should get you started.
Good luck,Jeff

I learned this from one of the Extreme Ones posts and it works awesome.

I Remove the rear hook, then I take a small rubber band from a lift off rig and wrap it around the shaft of the middle hook and with the middle hook being T'ed I lay it back against the bait and loop the rubber band around the remaining rear cotter pin. Then bend only one of the corners of the tail down a bit.

The bait will have a wobble because of the weight being removed from the tail and will dart to the side.

Awesome tuning method X one!!!

Really makes that lifeless stick come alive

I can make them dance out of the box by tuning the tail and the hook eyes. I leave the rear hook, but will look at that after throwing one of Lee Tauchen's modifieds. Watch the Suick video onsite, that is a stock bait.

Anybody do any mods on the 7"ers? I don't do much, but I love to rip those suckers as fast as I can. Especially when I keep getting follows. I wouldn't think there is much to do to them, other than tail and eye adjustments.

Yeah, I take the stock hook hangers off and replace them with 1" screw in eyes and I angle the front eye towards the back of the bait and I angle the back eye towards the front of the bait, Make sure they are directly in the middle and straight.
The reason for this is that I do not trust those small little screws in the bait when a nice big pig is on.

Does anyone have much luck throwing a 6" Suick in the spring? It would seem very similar to twithing a 6" crank to me.

I did try Roger Sabota's trick of curling one side of the tail and cranking the handle at the end of the pull at the end of the year. Made the bait roll, looked great in the water.

PK,

Just to give credit where it is due. I learned about removing the rear hook and banding it back from Dave Dorazio years ago. I showed the Extreme One this trick on Pewaukee one night 2 years ago, and about 5 casts later, he boated a nice 43"! I think that pic, the one with his dog, is on his site.

I do all my Suicks this way now, and I really like the way you can make them work. Thanks go to Dave Dorazio for sharing.
