Subject: Silver Carp in WI River

Story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today that a Silver Carp was found in the Wis. River, below the dam at Prairie du Sac. Guy and his son were catfishing back in July and about 10:00 PM were heading back to the landing. The 9 year old son was sitting in the bow and suddenly there was a splash and something slammed into his back. Turned out to be a 35 inch silver carp. The fisherman knew what he was looking at and contacted the DNR. The labs tested and the results came back the end of January. The fish was spawned in the Mississippi in 2016 and had made its way into the Wis. River. They speculated that it was blocked from further migration by the dam
They had found a bighead carp in the past in the Wis. River, but first Silver.

We can’t say dam?

That was my fault, hadn't had my 2nd cup of coffee yet. I have edited to correct.

They have not destroyed the Illinois river and it's full of them. They are in every river that flows into the Illinois and Mississippi up to the first dam.

Not good but during low water periods you can have a group of guy's pulling net's then have some folks with bow and arrows to kill them. Then a DNR sponsored Pizza and Beer for the volunteers. May not work but it would be fun.
