My wife and I traveled up to Hayward back in 2015 and are planning a return trip in a couple of weeks. 15 hour drive for us. We had a great time and loved the area. We stayed eight days and fished the Chippewa Flowage, Lost Land, Spider, and Clear Lakes. I'm wanting to try a new lake this time and was thinking about the Namakagon. I'm still more into numbers than into size. Would you guys that fish that area go with Namakagon, or concentrate on a different lake?
Also, does anyone know if the mosquitoes are bad this year?
They weren't bad at all back in 2015, but I have heard that on some years, they can just about pack you away.
Feel free to PM me with any advice or recommendations. I really got some good information last time I visited the area.
Thanks in advance!!

I'm floundering around in the middle of a real slump right now and I'm trying to break out of it before I head north...

If you’re more into numbers with a chance at decent fish I’d stick to LL and Teal, spider, and another option (smaller fish but high density almost too many) is the tiger cat Flowage. The first three choices have very good chances at 36-42” fish and always a chance at bigger in those waters. The Tiger Cat has tons of low 30” class fish.

Nam isn’t a numbers lake at all. Has some big fish for sure. Also has a few boats etc. and I wasn’t impressed when I fished it but you may like it better. Just not my recommendation if you want considerate action.

Thanks for the info Fish4Muskie, and thanks for the information in the PM's. You guys are great for helping out!!

I think my slump is over! A buddy and I fished on a local lake here in Kentucky this weekend and we caught and released 14 fish and I caught a nice 46 incher this morning. I feel a little better about heading North without that bad mojo hanging over my head.

Thanks again everyone!

Troy

Here's the 46 incher:

Was just up on Spider this weekend. First evening we got 2 on a weed bed, 24 and 30. Next day got one off a small island in the morning, 36. Day 3, no fish. Got 2 this morning, 28.5, 32.5. We moved some more fish, including a bigger (compared to what we had caught) one on a suick off a reed bed, but it never ate. Definitely lots of small fish, but if the weather is right, keep it in mind.
