Posts: 46 | I was told once by Ranger that it would void my warranty if I mounted a kicker motor on my rig. Does anyone know the reason why? Does it have to do with the fact that this boat has a stepped hull? Has anyone else come across this scenario and what if anything did you do as a result? Has anyone mounted a kicker on this model of boat and how? Any information would be much appreciated... Thanks, TR

Posts: 228 | I do not know who told you that. I have a Ranger Reata 1850VS and mounting a kicker motor on it certainly did NOT void the warranty on the boat! I put mine on the port side and moved the ladder to the starboard side. I needed to mount a plate on the transom to mount the kicker motor on! Worked great! I am guessing that the 186VS would be about the same! Bob

Posts: 46 | bllhogg is right that the 1850 and 186vs do have a different lay out, ( i.e. seating, live well, etc. ) however, I am unsure as to whether they have the same hull design and/or transom. Does the 1850 have a stepped hull like the 186vs?

Posts: 228 | Cabela's used to sell these plates. I do not see them on their web-site anymore. Ranger probably still sells them though! Bob Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 228 | Amazon.com has these a lot cheaper than Ranger will. Do a search for Marinetech 55-0405 Marine Static Motor Mount Plate . They are $160.54 on their web-site. I bought a new one for $100 from the Walleye Central Swap Page 7 years ago. Bob
