Location: Illinois | I know it has probably been discussed before. I feel that I have bad luck landing fish on this style of lure. I lost two fish this year alone that would probably have been my first 50" plus, in the same time caught my PB of 49.5" on a medussa this summer. Yesterday I had an absolute pig crush a regular dawg 10' from the boat, lost it a few head shakes later. I had sharp hooks, fishing with a 9'XXH rod, Revo NACL, drag very tight. Anyone have tips they use for these baits to keep fish on? anything to try would be appreciated. |

| Is it a problem with line pick up? I used to lose fish on those lures cause I could not get the slack out of the line before the hookset. Tranx hg solved that problem. |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Remove the top hook or bend in back into the body so it can't grab anything, especially the roof of their mouth. |

Location: Illinois | I don't think its a line pickup issue, with the 9' rod I thought I had a great hookset both times??? and never had the chance to even start reeling on the last fish. I had heard about removing the top hook, was curious how many poeple actually do it? I have actually caught a nice musky with just the top hook, but if its a rarety/issue I would rather remove it. Thanks! |

| How old is the Dawg? I ask becasue if its over a year old it may still have those craptacualr Plasma Point Hooks on it. If so I would change them out. I would also T the hook out to give you better gap to wrap around the mouth of the fish and get around any mandible bones. |
