Good morning everyone,

I didn't have a chance to fish much this year and fall as I've been very busy with some other stuff. Started fishing again at the beginning of October, we went out on the Ottawa River with 4 ''missed'', including one that came out of nowhere on a figure 8, a follow that was lost in a missed figure 8 transition (lack of experience/way too long leader.. this has already been changed) and 2 missed hook set. Nothing particularly big anyway. Water was a bit above the 60 degrees.

Then there was a friendly tournament organized by L’Attirail’s musky shop at the Lake of Two Mountains. We didn’t get much chance that day, no bites, no follows…nothing! But the three first positions got nice fishes in their boats (no monsters but still over 50 inches fish). Water was at 60 degrees.

We went back to Two Mountains the week-end after and we got a small 35 inches in the boat trolling and my tournament partner, who was in another boat that day, also got a small 36 inches while casting. Then again nothing big and water temperature seemed to slowly start dropping as it was a bit below the 60 degrees.

We’re planning on going on the Ottawa River this week-end. With a couple -0s during the nights this week, the water will probably start to drop faster.

Anyone else on this board also fishes these bodies of water?

Alex

Good to know, I've just ordered a couple of legend baits; a perchbait and a plow. Me and my partner don't go often as far as Hawksberry as we are from Gatineau, but 2 times out of 3 that we did go there, we did land small skies.

We'll go on the river either Saturday or Sunday and will post a report of water temp and fishing results.

The water temperature fastly dropped as it was now around the 50s. We didn't think it would drop that fast as last week it had stay close to the 60s for two consecutive weeks even my the colder nights, so we weren't really prepared for a low 50 approach. The winds were going hard as well, hitting sometimes the 25km/h, with rain all day long and even snow falling. Instead of casting we the decided to troll to make it safer warmer and most of all, to cover more water and we ended up crossing two small muskies. Hopefully, we'll be getting bigger ones next week-end.
