My wife and I will be in the Oconomowoc area in mid November, and we were thinking about dragging the boat the 2.5 hours and try a little musky fishing in the area. We don't know much about the lakes in that area, but we do know that some have muskies. Just wondering if it is worth the extra work to bring the boat, or if it is a safe skip. Thanks for the advice.

If your going to fish for a day just hire a guide rather than hauling the boat back and forth. If more than that bring the boat and fish a few of the lakes...

Sucker bite is usually pretty good on Pewaukee, and can be very good on Ocauchee lake. I think the fish are chunkier on Ocauchee. I'd agree with the guide suggestion. See if the The Extreme One, Mike Koepp, is available for Pewaukee. For Ocauchee, seek out TuffDaddy, Joe Michel. Both are great guys.

Thanks everyone! My wife and I will have to sit down and figure out how much time we will actually be able to fish while we are in Oconomowoc. If we don't make it out in November, we will make it out next season.

okauchee or pewaukee are your best bet. don't have any current info to offer, but I know that bucktails in blk & rd were hot a couple weeks ago on pewaukee, & I hear the sucker bite has been picking up on okauchee. u can pick up suckers @ Musky Mikes (near Okauchee) or Smokey's (near Pewaukee) I did hear about 5 fish being taken on Fowler lake which isnt far & is a smaller, less pressured lake.

Johnny Riegel is an outstanding guide for the area as well. With Mike in a tree stand for a big chunk of fall, I doubt that anyone catches as many fish as Johnny. www.ultimatemuskyguide.com

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure if we are going to fish in the Oconomowoc area, we will probably go with a guide. The shortened days will make new water harder to learn. Since our time will be limited, I think a guide will be our best bet.
