I've heard of mid to upper 40s come out of there very rarely. Im willing to guess there's not many muskies in there. Same with sterling lake

Posts: 371 Location: Dixon, IL | I know this lake and years ago that I found out that lake got muskie and I am happy but no stock since. I DONT KNOW WHY! Maybe very few left in the lake and they are big fish! 50 inch released a few months (?) ago! My guess is that maybe 5 musky in a whole lake and maybe few more from natural reproduction but I don't know!

I highly doubt that in Illinois with the substrate the lake is made of. I dont know of any actual reproduction in any illinois waters. I could be wrong and if so Id love to know where this happens!

Posts: 171 | I love how the thought of natural reproduction in the entire state of Illinois is always so easily written off. As if every lake consists of the same bottom content or something... You and nobody else knows for sure, because you guys don't have your own lake in Illinois and the time/staff to conduct the research necessary to know for sure. Think about it...

Posts: 20219 Location: oswego, il | I have heard reports of it happening, people seeing fingerlings where they are not stocked. My guess is its too limited to ever matter and bass get most of them. Steve Pallo told me about a lake that got tigers back in the day with no return. Fingerlings. They did a study with bass and 100% of the bass studied had eaten tiger fingerlings. the area musky clubs have looked into putting muskies into I dependence grove. Its not state run and they are not interested in having a musky population in the lake. To bad.
