Subject: Shimano Calcutta 400 D

So I just got my second Calcutta 400 D off Ebay today ($326 free S&H).

I finally decided to bite the bullet after about 6 years of trying to crank in #10's with mainly Abu Garcia 6500s.

I'm a converted bass and pike fisheman from Northwest Nebraska, I just never saw myself spending $300+ on a single reel. Then again until that fateful afternoon when I had about a 30lbs Musky follow my bass spinner to the boat, I never thought I would be fishing Musky either...

So I sure hope you guys were right in recommending the new 400 D.

Anybody want to speak a little reassurance...

I lobe my 400d. It is smoother and smaller than my 400te.

I really like mine, I also recently picked up revo toro nacl, they are both good reels, but the 400D is just super smooth and really seems to cast a long ways. The 400D can pretty much throw anything, you will like it! BR

You will love it! I fished mine in some pretty harsh conditions this winter... Lots of ice on the line, it keeps grinding away no problem, like nothing even there. Super smooth and casts great.

Northwestern Nebraska? How's Cottonwood-Steverson coming along? I haven't been out west in several years, so might have to make the trip this spring.

Also, the 400D will make you happy for a long, long time.

I am going to be exploring NE this season as well, bit shorter drive from Denver than most of the Tiger lakes. BR

On the 300 and 400D reels I can add 5 Ball Bearings to the reel, 4 in the Handle Paddles and 1 on the spool replacing the plastic bushing, just makes the new D reels even smoother then they all ready are. PM for more details.
