Posts: 275 | I'm planning a trip to Eagle River this Summer. Days will consist of chasing muskies in the morning, mid-day playing with my wife and 2 year old son, and evenings hitting the water again. I'm not looking for specifics but I've never fished this chain and was wondering if some of you guys could give me some help getting started. Also, I think I've decided on staying at Lake Forest Resort unless some of you have suggestions of nicer "family" type resorts around $1000 a week.....my wife's not too outdoorsy, so more like a hotel as apposed to "rustic". Sorry if I'm asking alot here, but Thank You, Jaimy

Lake forest is a nice central location on the chain. Tons and tons of skies to be caught on all the lakes. Simple to learn with tons of spots to fish. You should have no problem putting some fish in the boat, only downfall is the size. A lot of fish up to 42, a few to mid 40 and very few high 40 caliber fish. A very fun fishery though!

Posts: 275 | Thank you both. I'm familiar with Boulder Junction and Manitowish Waters but I like to get some other input before trying new areas. Jaimy

Posts: 262 | The chain can be really fun to fish, usually make two to three trips up there a year. Pretty easy to do what you are looking for. Get a "milk run" set up and hit it in the am and pm, should score some fish.

Posts: 144 Location: Loves Park, IL | Be sure to check out Eagle Waters Resort. We have stayed there many times over the last decade and they fit the bill for the family type resort. They have both types of lodging, condo and cabin, with a restaurant on site, playgrounds, pool (if you don't want the lake) for the kids, etc. Very nice in your price range. Good action lake and we've caught muskies right off the dock on Eagle Lake's east shore. Good luck and have fun. http://www.eaglewaters.com/ Jeff Edited by JBlanck 1/7/2013 12:46 PM

Posts: 1036 | I used to work at Lake Forest. I caught muskies off of their launch in the evening with topwater baits. I'll PM you a few of my favorite milk runs that'll get you on fish.
