Posts: 479 Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | Anyone try one of Larry Dahlberg's (River2Sea) Wide Glide baits, the larger subsurface model? Good? Bad? Indifferent? How deep do they run?

Posts: 200 Location: Minnesota | They're good, but they don't get the 8' glide that's advertised. If you have one of the older models with the feather glued directly to the back hook, you have to take that off because it severely screws up the glide. I cut mine off and then glued some flashabou to the eye where you attach the split ring. It's a lure that takes some work to use properly. It's not idiot proof like a jackpot and Larry is very clear about that. He has a video on youtube somewhere of how to get it to work properly.

I must be an idiot, because i can get it to glide at all.

Posts: 323 | do a search and read some of the older posts about this bait.. it's not idiot proof as stated above but it does nothing special to warrent all the extra time you have to put into it just to get it to work right.. they are also surface to sub-surface bait..

Using a single strand leader and a shorter rod make a huge difference. I agree that it's nothing earth-shatteringly different, but it's a little different and sometimes that little difference is what matters.

Posts: 265 Location: Manitowish Waters WI | I concur with the idiots i guess, I can't get this thing to glide or take any kind of action I find a glider to make it look desirable. ![]()

Posts: 200 Location: Minnesota | Here's the video I was talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W_BhQbDkdo&feature=related Again, I'm not saying it's the best glidebait or anything, but just something different to have in your arsenal. Edited by lhprop1 6/8/2012 3:17 PM
