Posts: 122 Location: North Central Illinois | I am getting my new PB (54.5") done by Joe Fittante and cannot decide whether I want to mount the fish on a piece of driftwood or not.......? What are some of your thoughts? Pictures of your mounts with or w/out driftwood are certainly welcome! I am undecided and torn! And I need to make my decision ASAP as Joe has probably already started on my mount! Need help please!!! Thank you for any replies here!

Driftwood from Joe is $45. This should be a no-brainer. Spend some time searching the forums for pictures of peoples' mounts. Try searching "replica" in the title and go back at least a year.

Posts: 380 Location: Michigan | Unless the fish was using wood as structure when you caught it, I wouldn't use wood. I am a fan of just the fish... I think wood, or a plaque takes away from the fish. It looks "cleaner" on it's own. Just my opinion.

Posts: 280 | An option that I favor is to have a piece of driftwood hung separately either under or above your fish. You can use a much smaller piece of wood to get a very nice effect. Another advantage is that you can change the wood with another piece or remove it completely if it gets tiresome. Many variations without touching the fish at all. You can search for your own wood or I'm sure Joe could provide a small piece that would compliment your fish. DougP

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | it all depends on what you want to capture. joe did a (2) fish mount for me on an enormous piece of driftwood and it turned out to be spectacular!! no matter what you choose, you'll love what you get from him.

Location: SE Wisconsin | I had Joe make up some rocks to accompany one of mine.. think it looks pretty sweet, plus you can adjust the fish to whatever position you want. I found the prop on the bottom of a lake on a rock bar, so I added that on myself, btw. I've also had Joe put them on drift wood and I've had him do another on a butternut plaque (which is hanging above the fireplace at Club Paragon to promote his awesome work), plus another one with nothing.. All pics taken with cell phone, so I apologize for the lack of clarity in the images. Posts: 122 Location: North Central Illinois | Thanks for the responses guys....think I will just get it w/ driftwood and if I don't like it or it's too heavy I will just take it off....
