Posts: 278 Location: Finland | hey fellas figured that these deserved a new thread. the pikes are done for a customer of mine who wanted something big and out of the ordinary so i whipped out these for him. got to say those carvings i did to them are really painstaking to do but i guess the end result kinda makes it worth while also i had this idea in my head that i must incorporate fly tying materials for jerk baits. i finally got something done and got to say that raccoon zonker does look pretty cool on those tail baits and i've never seen anyone else using zonker strips for jerkbaits before. there only prototypes and time will tell if they work as well as i hope that they do. also the foiling on those came out awesome too. Posts: 278 Location: Finland | thanks for the comments guys muskyslayer96 - 2/14/2012 4:30 PM Solar, Awesome, those Pike are outta bounds man...very nice work. Some tight foil work there as well. Are you fainting the foil itself or foiling, then etex, then paint? Well done, MS that foil is actually printed by me with a special aluminum mesh net that i found from a near by hardware store. i do usually put some clear coat on top of the foil before painting to even out all the bumps and other unevenness that there might be, however its not etex nor any kind of epoxy its 1 component lure varnish that they sell over here for lure makers, its really convenient to use since it hardens very fast, it takes 30 mins or so for it to dry enough it to be surface dry. doing that gives the paint layer much more depth when you've finished off the lure | ||
