I have a brand new one sitting my garage and want to get some use out of it...would the fenwick trolling rod make a decent bucktail rod or would it suck?

This is a two piece rod and is designed to be used trolling. You don't troll?

You could try it for casting ? I recently used my 9' telescopic TI xxh rod for my 2nd trolling rod as a guide was being fixed on my other Okuma 8' EVX trolling rod.

It would probably do a good job soaking suckers.

theres a reason they are 100 msrp... i very quickly found them for 80 so im sure you could get one even cheaper. they are glass rods. u can use it ya but its not designed to take the abuse of casting big musky lures.

you can make the arguement that trolling lures is harder on a rod than casting but i think you would be wrong...just imo

i do love fenwicks and not bashing it just theres a reason why these rods are 100 dollars compared to their other rods which are over 200..."look around you can find a better deal than that"

Sounds like you've got a great late fall sucker soaker to me. I looked at those for propwash rods, but wanted one piece stix so looked further. As said, its a glass composite, so should handle some cold weather abuse going toe to toe with a meat eater.

That 2pc Fenwick fiberglass trolling rod sounds interesting for trolling large plugs in cold weather.
Can anyone tell me the actual length of the butt section (behind the reel seat) for the fiberglass trolling rod?
The Fenwick site shows 3 lengths for rod handle butts for their 3 e-tech rods (2 casting and one trolling) but the pictues of individual rods have the same butt section so I'm confused.
I'd prefer the shortest of the 3 butt lengths for trolling.
