Location: Waukee, IA | Went up to Leech where I grew up to do some serious muskie fishing. No dropping the ball this time and going bass fishing, walleye fishing, or any other kind of fishing. My buddy and I decided to focus only on muskies this trip. Have not had great success before this with a 45 incher being my best off of Leech so far. However, I don't get to fish it nearly as much as I would like since I live in Des Moines now.
Totals for the 5 days were as follows: 3 caught, 3 missed/lost, saw a total 14.
Pretty good results as Leech is just starting to turn on. The warm weather has really moved the fish up onto the rocks finally. Great time to get out there.
Twitch baits like the hellhound and manta worked very well as did some topwaters...specifically the red-headed bumblebee Weagle and the Whopper Plopper.
Was able to catch my personal best on the second night, right at moonset of course!
48.5 incher caught on the aforementioned weagle. Thanks to Hopper for running the boat and to Jim Flesch for help in guiding.
