| Heading up to Eagle River for a long weekend....forecast is for a 7-10 degree Temp drop between Thursday and Friday, and of course going to be fishing Friday, after the temps drop. In the Summer or Spring I would be slowing down, maybe moving tighter to cover, possibly even downsizing......but now its fall, any ideas?

| I use deep diving crankbaits and smaller suspending jerkbaits for pike when it's a coldfront. Natural colors seems to work best with percg and silver shiner being the best ones. |

| Slamr:
Fishing has been really tough up here lately with this warm weather. Water temps are still in low 70's as of last night. We actually need a good cold front to come through and cool down the water. Transition times are key right now, and there is definitely still a night bite on the gin clear lakes. |

| Phatphish is right on. This is just what the doctor ordered. The fish now realize that fall is setting in, and a few degree drop will only help the cause!!!
I'm headed up this weekend too, and the surface lures will be the main item on the menu, and should be for you too!!!!!!!!! Fish seem to eat them all day long right now, and this is by far my favorite few days of the year bar none. |

| Hey SLMR buddy>>>for what it is worth this time last year (Mid Sept) we were hit with a pretty nasty cold front. I fished the next day. A buddy tipped me off to the fact that they may be ultra shallow....I banged two fish that day in like 4 hours. I was casting to weed pockets in 2-4 feet of water with a reef hawg and a top rader.....not hogs but I will take mid 30 inch fish on a tough post cold frontal day any day!
Actually I think my partner scored one fish too and we moved a couple more...same pattern.
Good luck!

| Last weekend it was a surface bait bite on Little Arb in less than 3ft. Should be the same this weekend. |

| Hey Slamr, like MuskieE said we'll be up there also Fri, Sat, and Sun. Me and E plan on hooking up Fri. I still have room for one more guy in my boat if you're interested. E-mail me today if you wanna make plans, and I'll let you know where to meet. If not good luck this weekend.
By the way this is what I plan on doing. Hoping the same pattern is going as two weeks ago in the basins, but if not I will be going way up shallow. Like everyone else is saying, TOPWATER. In years previous also noticed the fish like to move around mid day when it's sunny. Suicks have also moved many fish for me in this situation. |
