1st the boat sat out in the rain and heat last week. I took it out yesterday and while I was fishing and the screen changed from night vision that I normally run to normal. And back to night and eventually stayed on normal. And it did it all by itself, and I couldnt change it back. menu says its on night vision but its running normal mode.
Also when I turn the key to start the boat the unit shuts off, and I have to turn it back on, nearly everytime the boat is started it will shut off.
Any ideas?

Usually when a unit is doing this, you have low voltage to the unit. I'd check your connections, make sure everything is connected well and your starter battery is holding a solid charge.

that would make total sense seeing that my starting battery was nearly dead, had to jump off the trolling motor batteries to start the big motor yesterday

Joe, any units prior to the HDS units that use an external puck, you will draw amperage from your battery to your puck. So, if your boat sits for any decent period of time, the gps puck can draw your battery down. It'll be a slow draw, but over time it can draw it down to where the battery voltage would affect your starting battery.

TJ, With the external pucks if you have them on a switch though it would not drain the battery down the way you have your boat rigged up.....Correct?

Trever, you should be good to go. Just don't leave any buttons on the pad on, that will drain your battery, haha.

Also found that after charging my battery it wouldnt go back to proper night vision, just turn everything darker blue. So after checking everything I found that it had also changed my map selection such as north west wi, northeast mn,etc. it was on lowrance. put it to the correct one and it worked perfectly.
Just something to keep in mind in case it happens to anyone else.

similar issues with my Lowrance LMS332c at the console. Powers off on its own, or changes light level. LC20x at bow is run off the same battery and no problems, so it doesn't sound like the same issue. Power cord is on tight and locked. Any ideas? Short in the cable maybe? Thanks
