Posts: 208 | I'm a little frustrated right now! I have a 1999 70 hp Suzuki 4 stroke which i've had some problems with the last 2 years. This spring I took it out (started on the first turn of the key) ran it across the lake and it died and would not start. I had this same issue in the spring of 2009! So i take it into the dealar and explained that i'm having the same problem i had last spring which they claimed they corrected for a small fee ($370.00). I pick it up and they charge me another $380 and tell me the plugs were fouled. I reminded them of all the buisness i give them and they ignored me and handed me another bill for the same problem they claimed to have fixed last year. It gets worse! I took the boat out today for the first time (35 mph winds) to test it after they fixed it. Started right up and ran it across the lake but when i started to slow down (2000 rpm) it died and would not start! Luckly for me one other boat was out running around and towed me in. The wind had blown me into no mans lands and i was about 30 yards from the reeds and about to jump in and start pulling. This Suzuki dealer winterizes my boat and then i have these problems? What actions can i take? Should i trust them to fix what they claimed they allready fixed and assume they won't charge me again? Is there a SUZUKI Dealer anyone recommends? Thanks!

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Take it back to the dealer who did the repair, and tell them it isn't corrected. Ask them to fix it and tell them you will not be paying for this repair as they obviously didn't find and correct the issue, which is what you paid for, and see what they have to say. Call Suzuki Customer Service and ask them to step in on your behalf with the dealer if there is an issue. If you had the 'same' problem in the Spring last year and the engine ran well after repair through the balance of the year, the problems may not be connected. It's even possible the issue you had today may not be associated with your original problems. If that's the fact and they prove it out, you will be paying another bill. It's an engine, it's 11 years old.....

Posts: 388 | Have heard that the fuel filters need to be changed to avoid high rpm issues. There is a low presure filter and a high pressure filter. Believe that the high pressure filters are the ones that tend to give problems. My 90HP Suzuki will be 6 years old this fall and I plan to change out the HP filter for the first time after I fill up the gas tank for the first time this year. I have a friend that owns a 70HP Suzuki a few years older than mine and had some similar problems with filter pluggage. If this is the issue and your dealer failed to recognize it, I would be upset as this is a fairly well known issue when the filter becomes plugged.

Posts: 208 | Im not sure if the filters have been replaced or not? I've taken there recommendations on all scheduled maintnance. They commented when i had it in last time that the computer showed no error report? They also checked the fuel which was good. I'll give them another chance if there willing to take care of me? Otherwise i'm willing to drive a farther distance if needed to a different dealer. Luckly i was on a small lake yesterday when this happened! It's not comforting fishing the big lakes knowing this could happen again. Thanks!

Posts: 208 | Steve, I called the dealer and explained what happened after they worked on it. They basically told me they would look at it again but were not willing to help me out. I also called Suzuki and theres nothing they can do except assist who ever works on it next time with possible solutions. I've given my buisness to this place for 10 years and this is what I get! I will never go there again thats for sure!

Posts: 208 | The boat is fixed thanks to Frankies in Chisago City! They figured it out quickly (Fuel Filters) and the boat runs better than ever.
