If I have a graph that has been discontinued, will Lowrance still repair it if necessary?

Depends how old. The most recent ones yes, some of the super old ones no.
Can't answer your question without a model #

What Jason said. It's tough to say what they'll do. I've heard stories of people calling in with a 25 and Lowrance sending them a 27 as a replacement or sending a 27 and they get an HDS 7 as a replacement. I called in when my 25 crapped itself and they said it'd be $311 to fix. Guess I got the wrong guy on the phone. I'm not complaining. That 25C came with the boat when I bought it from Sled, so it lived a full life, but I had guys telling me stories of upgrades and trade-ins and it didn't happen to me.

To add onto this, if I'm going to purchase a fish finder that is OLDER than the Lakemaster chip, will it still work?

My guess is no on the fix. I had a 25 go bad a few years ago. When i called lowrance i was told they could not fix it but they offered me a coupon for a new one. A week later i got a coupon in the mail for $250.00 off an x27/28 or $500.00 off the bigger units. So if they cant fix it they might help you out a little bit towards a new one.

I spoke with lowrance some time back and asked the same question. The guy indicated 6-7 years is average time span for servicing units once they go out of production.

I should've talked to the guy you did. I was told to pack sand and send them $311.
