| Any one have any recommendations on a handheld GPS used strickly for fishing purposes. I was thinking handheld so I could bring it on any boat that I may be fishing out of. Thanks for the help! |

| i thought the same, i use hand held and the one of this big things is you dont have to continuously put the GPS on and off all the time for security purposes. dont have to worry about forgeting to take it off 1 night and the next day its gone |

Location: Fairfield, IA | I would suggest that before you buy one consider what chips/mapping software is available for the area you want to fish. I know a guy that has the Lowrance H2O and got a chip for it. He used it extensively last year during a week trip to NW WI. He said he really liked the detail it provides. Looks like good detail. I have a Garmin Colorado but cannot use the same chip in mine.
RAM has a mount for most any handheld you can buy. I really like the setup I have. I would love to have a GPS/Sonar combo but I can't take that in the woods in the fall bowhunting.

Location: West Bend, WI | I use a Garmin Legend CX with the Lakemaster Wisconsin chip. I have been very happy with it the last three years. The lakemaster mapping has been awesome on lakes like the Big Chip, a huge help. |

Location: Maplewood, MN | I have an H2O on a RAM mount next to my sonar in the back of the boat (tiller) when trolling and navigating and have an extra RAM mount in the front for casting while on the trolling motor. I have a cigarette adapter at each station and move it from front to back when I need to. Have used it this way for 4 years, great settup. Also carry it with me icefishing. Good detail on Lakemaster chips. |

Location: Wausau, WI | I have a H20c paired with a Navionics Hot Maps. I don't have a single issue with either of the two except for one, the size of the screen. If you're going to be using the GPS in the boat strictly, I would get something with a larger screen. I love mine for ice fishing and jumping around in different boats with my buddies. I just wish it would have a bigger screen. |
