I've never personally used one. I did however just see a video of Greg Thomas using a brightly colored one on Mille Lacs(?). He got a lot of action from it. He was just twitching it along, letting it settle, then little twitches. Seemed to work for him when all the fish were just following other baits.

The big kilr eel moved a lot of fish for me but it did not hook fish well - in my opinion, from what I saw - so I stopped throwing it.
I now throw tubes a lot and fish them like a jerkbait up shallow - they hook fish better though not as well as hard jerkbaits. They move a ton of fish though - erratic and quiet - a good combo on the clear water I fish.

I got two at Gander in Brainerd this summer that were like 60% off so I thought I'd give them a shot. They look amazing in the water. I just don't see how they couldn't work. But their hooks leave me with pause, and I too worried about their hookset. You have to move them very very slow though, as too much or too fast or too hard of a jerk will have them almost blowing out. Weight would be good, but it'd change the suspension they have. I'll use them again, as they do just look so dang good in the water.

I fished them with Gregg T. on Mille Lacs and after that I had to buy a couple. We did not fish them slow. In fact I twitched and jerked, and darted that thing as fast as I could reel. So, did Gregg. It was a very interesting way of fishing. We each had fish up and chasing them, mine was a looker and his just couldn't seem to find the bait (kept swinging and missing). So, definitely not a lure that has to be worked super slow.

I like the action alot on these lures but I don't give them enough time in the water. IMO lures that are worked pretty erratic increases the chances of missing hook-ups; then throw in the single hooks. I see them on sale quit often and they are worth picking up one or two.

I have thrown both the 8'' killer eel and the 11'' Flyin witch, I have caught fish on the 8'' eel. I havn't caught anything on the larger one. I can't get the same action as I do with the smaller one so I tend to use that mostly. I fish them fast and erractic also, normally 2 or 3 really quick twitches then pause and repeat. I also have had them pop out of the water, but that never really seemed to bother the fish, actually I have caught fish on the same retrieve that it pops out of the water on. Great lures for cold fronts and when the fish just don't move on other lures.

I like the 8" eel. I've had good luck working them slowly or quick. Not the best for always hooking up though.
