Are all waters with muskies good night bite lakes? I have fished a few waters that I have caught plenty of fish on during daylight and dusk hours, but once it is dark I have fished up until 10 or so without any fish. I have a walleye lake like this, where fish all day come, but once it is dark, I might as well go home. What do you think?

My experience has been a good musky night bite happens when you have clear water and lots of boat traffic during the day, also I have only had success during the warmer months of JULY and AUGUST. If you fish a lake like this -- TRY IT A NIGHT. I am sure others will post more info but I have had great success looking for lakes like this and then fishing them after dark---We usually hit the water about 1 hour before darkness and fish until dawn sometimes---Have had many, many multi-fish experiences doing this---Also seems that the AVG size fish we catch is larger than fish caught during the day???? It's worked for me !!

You are already catching fish during the day.  How can it get any better than that?  I would much rather catch fish during the day than at night.  It's not easy fishing all hours of the night, hard on the body and can be dangerous when fishing alone.  Night fishing can be good on high pressured and high traffic lakes with clear water but not always.  But give me a daytime bite any day of the week with a normal sleep pattern.

Clear water will help to devolp a night bite but it is not required. Fishing pressure and boat traffic can also help to devolp a night bite. For the past couple of years I have been on a steady night bite in some pretty dark water, clarity of only a foot or two at most. With this dark water the fish can and will move super shallow at night. I also find that some of the best fishing occurs when the moon is up and full. The key is to get out and fish it, and devolp some patterns. The same baits and locations that you use during the day may work but don't be afraid to try something else. The spots that look great but have a boats driving over them all day, are usually prime once the traffic dies down. One of the great benefits of lakes like this is usually the lack of fishing pressure after dark, there will be some boats that will hang around for a hour after dark but after that you usually have the lake to yourself until daybreak. Just remember that when you are fishing shallow and not catching fish don't be afraid to go even shallower, like 3 feet of water or less.

I agree with the post above.

The only thing i would add is turn off the head light until necessary. Navs lights on for saftey, but that's it. Keeps the bugs away and I notice more action.

I don't think fishing until 10pm in the summer is "night fishing", that's usually just first dark in june/july. I have yet to have a muskie lake that doesn't have a night bite when i've tried/put the time in, clear or dirty water. Some fish just feed at night.

in my opinion, heavy boat traffic turns fish on (both muskies and bass), especially if you have a ton of boats running the bouy line.

In my experience in the last couple of years the night bite for me (fishing from shore) happens about 30 mins to an hour after all boats are off the lake.
