I have about 5-6 Eddie Baits that i just got from a friend and some have a short (3") solid leader on the front and some just have a split ring. I have not used any of them yet and was wondering which has the better action? with leader or with split ring? Or does one provide a completely different action than the other? The guy I got them from didn't use them and couldn't tell me either.

Thanks

each one could have a little different action, tinker with them to find what works best for each one

Eddie's are some of the very best baits that you will ever use, however, each one of them is very different from the next. With my Eddies, I cut off the wire and just used a single strand jerkbait leader with them. Takes a little bit of practice to get them to work, but when you do and you find an Eddie that works great, it is one of the best lures that you will ever use!

Trix - - Ed was my Caretaker of my house on Spider Lake, back in the 70's and I had many baits that he gave me. He used what he called piano wire and it microd up at .043" . He used to make the leader about 1/2" longer then the bait. I know because I always hooked the eye of the leader into the last hook for storage. The Eddie bait ranked right up with the Suick's of the day and were my favorite late season bait for cold water Oct& Nov. muskie fishing. Two sucker's and a Eddie bait were all you needed for the last 4 weeks of the season. Take care Marv. ( check with Dave Dorazoi for more info on the Eddie Bait. )

Trik - - - Back at you one more time, the Eddie bait had the wire hard wired straight to the bait no splitring. Ed used a ball bearing tied to to his line and always hooked that to the leader.
