Posts: 909 | I got a gift certificate from GM for christmas and was thinking about a new rod. Does anyone know if gander makes a 8'6" or 9 ft. H or XH rod? Or if they carry the Okuma muskie rods? Thanks...Brian Edited by muskie24/7 12/27/2008 10:56 PM

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | I just checked out the Okuma site and punched in my zip code, it says my local Gander is an Okuma dealer. Check this link out. http://www.okumafishingteam.com/misc/dealers.html

Posts: 909 | Hey T.J., Thanks for the help. The Ganders here in Pa. carry the Okuma reels but not any Okuma rods. Does the store near you carry them? I wonder if I would be able to order one from them? Would you possibly have a number I could call to find out? Thanks...Brian

I opted for the 8' Extra Heavy myself. I love it. My second choice would have been the Okuma 8'6 XHeavy, but the Gander by me doesn't stock a whole lot of Okuma products. The Gander rod was only $100, plus, no shipping charges.

Posts: 909 | Hey Rich, I went to Washington again today. They hardley ever have any long Okuma rods out there. I ended up leaving with an 8'6" XH Gander rod for myself and a 6'6" Gander rod for my 10 yr. old son too. plus a bunch of other stuff that wasn't on my shopping list. LOL Thanks...Brian

Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Hey, Brian... Just to be sure... you're POSITIVE that is a EXTRA Heavy in a 8'6? I'm just wondering, because the only 2 options I had when I went was 8' Xheavy, or 8'6 Heavy. The guy behing the counter said that was all that was available.

Posts: 909 | Yea Jim, Your right it is a heavy rod. I hope I like it. I'll find out in a few days when the water level drops in the rivers. I have a ton of new equipment, a new boat, and some new tricks up my sleeves. I'm just dying to get on the water! Brian
