Posts: 16 | I'm from central NY, I'm anywhere from an hour and a half to almost three hours depending on where on the river I happen to be targeting. The Larry is tougher to fish now than it was before the zebra mussel invasion of the 80's and super clear water. Despite the VHS toll on the musky population, monsters are still captured thanks mainly to a strong catch and release effort. Bob

Posts: 10 | I read recently of a good young musky survey this year... I also heard quite a few reports of muskys caught during the Stren series bass tournament...( I caught one about 24") I myself was wondering about casting for muskies up there... Always hear trolling but not much about casting... I starting going back up there 3 years ago and fell for the place all over again... I'll be spending alot of time up there till I'm dead...

Posts: 43 Location: Roch NY | Hey Capt, Welcome to the addiction. Guess you're going multispecies in more ways than just the boat ...guess we'll be following each other to the same spots for our NY BBC Rally! As you've probably noticed, sadly not enough of us NY'ers here. I'm still no expert by any means, but my sense is that there's no reason you couldnt cast it in June and early fall when they're predominantly up shallow, but StLaw has an awful lot of water to cover while trying to find 'em casting- so you could be out there for days and not find em (esp after the VHS die off brought the #s down); and the big girls that come out to play late in the year are usually over open (warmer) water so trolling is the key tactic then too. good luck!

A muskie wanna be here. Have a bit of stuff, but no real investment into it yet. I'm reading up as much as I can from boards like this. Thus I can be prepared to go out and catch a few. Although I don't want to be alone (which I usually am)when I do (neither does my wife when she sees the pics of these beasts). Anyhow, I live on the St. Lawrence. My front door is about three feet from it. In Brockville, Ontario. Scott
