There is a lake in Carol Stream, Illinois that I have been fishing since I was 10. When I first started fishing there it was nothing to go out and catch 10 fish over 3 pounds in an hour now its hard to catch a two pounder. I have sinced moved from this area and have gone back several times to see people taking buckets full of fish. I have called the Dnr to check these people out but they come buy and look at the bucket and say nothing. There was one guy last year that pissed me off so I emptyed his whole bucket into the lake and saw atleast 10 bass that were like 12 inchs big. I keep fish from this lake to yesterday I caught two bass over six pounds and kept both. I have a private pond in my yard that is about the size of a football feild and put both fish in there. I figure if there going to be caught by some jerk I might as well give them a new home. Is there anything else that I can do to stop these people or should I just walk around a empty out every bucket.

If you know theres undersized fish, tip the buckets! Nothing they can do about it, and you can laugh in their face. My home lake has this problem but I don't screw with it, everyone is a screwed up meat hunter. Did I mention its in Illinois as well? I don't think the ILDNR gives a crap. I never see them check people for anything.

Sluggo, most every dupage county lake has been raped by the meathunters. My bass lake by me got raped last year, it's not worth fishing now. It's sick to see people keeping 12" bass that's for sure. I've seen people keep 8" bass. If they won't enforce it there is not much you can do. Maybe write a letter to thiei bosses and go over their heads. Write a letter to midwest outdoors or the outdoor notebook. That will apply some pressure.

One other thing. I am not sure transporting fish from one water to another is legal. You might want to check the law on that.

Like the old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the oil". It's a good one but I like the one "If you don't listen I'm gonna knock your head in with this bat!". Sometimes it works better at getting people to listen.

My aunt lives on a private lake in Illinois and people sneak in and keep fish. I know getting in their face usually makes them think twice.

Sluggo, I used to fish a pond in Carol Stream which is known for some monster bass. I wonder if it is the same one? Is it near a school? ;-)

Many lakes in south western Michigan have been all but ruined by ignorant, selfish, wealthy jerks from Chicago. And thier families. They seem to have absolutely no sense of stewardship for our natural resources. And they have no consideration for others. Instead, they act like it's some sort of a contest to get as much as they can get while they can still get it. It's really pretty sad. For example, it is common for some of these guys to buy a cottage for $150,000 and refuse to pay to have the garbage hauled away. Instead, they throw their bags of garbage in the first swamp they pass on thier way home every Sunday evening. I moved north to get away from them.
