I would like to make some straight wire leaders for a buddy who uses weagles. I'm wondering what folks use to get good action. Leangth, weight, terminal hardware? Thank you!

10" of 180 fluoro, solid ring on each end, no bb swivel.
works well.

I've been making my own out of 174 pound solid wire. Probably 10-11 inches, with a #5 Stringease Staylock snap and I think a #4 ball bearing swivel. The swivel wouldn't really be necessary, but I just make up all purpose leaders and use them for everything I throw. These seem to work just fine!

The Weagle is not really that leader sensitive. I can get good action out of the bait using pretty much any leader you have.

I've used floro, solid steel, even sevenstrand.

I generally fish them with floro because that is what I use for just about all of my leaders

Seaguar Flouro in 130# works just fine. I do use a BB swivel on mine but either way would work fine. The Weagles don't require solid wire to make them work good... they are real forgiving and work well with about anything... including but not recommended- no leader at all.

#174 wire, with a roscoe on one end and a loop on the other(no 2 way) "12 long. I seem to loose action with the flouro and 7strand. Just the way I do it!

whatever the material used, i find that with any side/side topwater or glider, keeping the leader length close to the same length as the lure produces the best results.
too short or too long and it messes up the lure's action, especially on shorter lures.
