Posts: 89 | Hey Guys, I've got a question how often do you guys replace the line in your reels? I'm headed down to Blaine this weekend and I'm trying to decide of I should buy some line or not.

I change it every other year, but i'm sure I don't fish as much as alot of guys on this site. The most important thing I do is to observe the condition of the first couple of feet of line tied to the leader. This part gets beat up, and if you see any fraying, clip it back a few feet and re-tie. I usually do this once a day on each of the two rods I have. I have one for wood and one for hair. PS: My line may be old school, but it has never failed me.

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | I change mine either when it doesn't look like new anymore or when I've cut off enough line where the spool is getting noticeably lower. I have some reels that I haven't changed in 4 years. But I get at least 2 years out of my line, depending on how much that reel gets used. Aaron
