Location: Richland Center, WI. | Heading up to the Minocqua area for a couple days trying to put my sons onto some muskies before they head back to school next week. Thought about trying Lake Tomahawk. Any suggestions? Never fished this area before but thought I would give it a shot. Not having very good luck on the southern part of WI lately. |

Location: searchin for 50 | was just up there . Lake tom was on fire. A 51 1/2 a 48 1/2 and a bunch of others were caught as well. Weighted bucktails and rubber baits were the ticket. Talk to Pat Wingo at the Front Porch He can probably help you out. Surface temps were 69 -71 degrees. |

Location: Richland Center, WI. | Got back from Lake Tomahawk this evening. Had stopped in at the Front Porch and spoke with a lady there who said the muskies are heating up. Use bucktails or jerkbaits in any color as long as it is black! We had one follow on windy point in fairly shallow water near the first bouy. Looked like an upper 30's and fat. Saw fish at 7:18am. Lots of structure on this lake. Be sure to take a map. |

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Just got back from fishing the Minocqua Professional Police Association's 29th Annual Musky Hunt. It's a fund raiser to support their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program. I believe there were around 120 anglers fishing the Minnocqua /Tomahawk chain for three days (10-13). 11 fish over 30" were registered with a 38", 40.25" and a 47.75" topping off the list. They run a great event. Looking foreward to returning again in 2007 for the 30th annual. Weather / conditions not the best but we've also had worse in the few years I've participated. I spent the entire three days on Tom and Little Tom. We were in a post cold front period with the following conditions. Day time air temps were about 60-65 with night timers dipping to hi 30's/lo 40's on the first night. Consistant cloud cover with steady winds mainly from the e or n/e at about 10-15 mph. water temps 65 +/-. The largest fish was caught on Mid Lake with at least one from each lake on the chain. Dont know any more about those fish caught. Maybe someone else can add some details. I do rember 3 fish caught on pink baits one for sure was a buck tail. Personally I had only a handfull of follows with the largest two going about 42+/-. All fish came in water deeper than 12' on sharp dropoffs. Two were on sharp primary shoreline breaks and the rest on mid-lake structure. None related to weeds as far as I could tell. Though some decent green weeds still around. Saw some brown leaf cabbage or was that green leaf that had already turned???? Water clarity was good. Follows were on Buck tails single and double blades all had some if not all black hair with bright (Chart or org) or silver blades. And, thanks to Pat Wingo, a Blk/Org Bull Dawg. Thanks To Jonnysled for the sound info. re: location and Double Cow Girls. We also hung suckers (10"ers).....no action. FYI, the prices varried in the area. R&H $5 each. Capt.Hooks $5 each, Kurt's Island Sports $3.75 each.
Now I can clean up the boat, reload, deal with a Lamiglass rod that exploded in my hands while casting and plan my next outing to Couderay and the Hayward area in October. Ill be looking for reports if anyone can help out.
