Hi all, St clair has been smokin for us anyway. We just went 22 for 28 in 5 days with 48,46 and a pair of 45 inchers for big fish. Most of others were 38 or better with 6 of those between 40 and 42. Very good outing for my wife and I. Best baits were Talonz Slashers with 15 of the 22 fish including the 48 incher. My second best producer was a Blue frog Mordas Minnow in the straight version that put another 6 fish in the boat. We got the other on a Blue frog Loke. Down rods at 20 feet back with 4 oz mini ball and board rods at 25 back with 2 oz. Most fish were locating in 16 to 17 feet of water and fogage was present. We fished the areas from the Ruscom River to just short of the Dumping grounds in Canadian waters. Weather was a little windy but that helped to keep water temps down . Trolling speeds were at or near 4.3 mph gps. Kingfisher

Kingfisher,
I think you were the guy I met @ Webster in the very early spring. If you are I need to get ahold of you for some of those giant cranks. I was fishing with my little brother that day and we spoke a bit about fishing here and there. then you showed me some of the lures you made.( If that was you). I am most interested in the Lake Trout pattern. I'll check the link at the bottom of your post for contact info.

By the way Congrats on the action!

Pete K.

Hi Pete, yes I remember you from Webster. I make the Talonz lineup of wooden lures. Little Claw ,Slasher, and the Big Deepthreats. We have been testing our new Slashers on St Clair and really getting into some nice fish. I sent you an email. My website link is on all my posts in this thread as well you can just click on Fishall lures to see all the baits. Tight lines, Kingfisher

Hey King Fisher:

How long of a trip is it from Muskegon to Lake St. Clair. I have a good buddy that lives in Muskegon. Is the travel easy enough to make a day trip out of it?

Congrats on the fish.

We try to make it a 4 to 5 day trip as Gas prices stink over here. We pull an 18 foot starcraft from Muskegon to The ruscom River on the Canadian side. It takes just over 4 hours. Cost for 5 days Gas,campground and food/beverages/ice 500.00 U.S. That includes 50 gallons fuel for the boat. Gas for the Van round trip from Muskegon alone is around 130.00 U.S. For a one day trip I would recomend chartering Bob Devine out of Windsor. Your buddy could drive a small car over fish with Bob and get out of it for about 300.00. Bobs Guide service is called Chartertalk,he has a website. Use the link on my prostaff reviews page. Otherwise the campgrounds at Rochester place on the Ruscom river is 45 per night and you get a dock for your boat, electric hookup, showers and marina next door for fuel. There is a resturant there as well. There are cabins for rent at the marina but I cant think of the of the name. Kingfisher

Good news for local St. Clair shores residents. The New Talonz Slashers will be in Lakeside Tackle in two weeks. They should be on the racks by August 17th. They also carry the Mordas minnows. These are two must have lures on the big pond this year. Kingfisher
