hi guys!
i don't consider myself a lurebuilder. i've only tied flies in my life, but i wanna start building my own lures, especially crankbaits. i'm thinking more about smaller stuff, 1 inch and up (i wanna start with balsa wood carved crankbaits) and i would appreciate some advises from you especially regarding paint, varnish, finishing. like what i can use, brand names, how they work. weblinks welcome
thanks

Well I just got started, but here is where I get most of my stuff .....

http://www.staminainc.com/

http://www.mooreslures.com/

They both have extensive lure parts catalogs, I use E tex for a final epoxy coat, available @ Menards .....

Welcome!!!

I'd recommend cedar over balsa though. Balso is too bouyant and isn't durable enough to stand up to a beating and muskie teeth will probably sink in too much for decent hooksets. Most good wood cranks are made of cedar now days.
