Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | My best friend lost his beckman pen series net in Chicago's friday afternoon rush hour on I-90 near O'hare airport (Cumberland ave. to be exact). It flew out of the boat. He continues on his journey not wanting to risk life and limb for a net. After about 3.5 hours i get off work and I take a ride just to see if its still there. Sure enough, I found it. It had obviously been run over in the w/b lanes and somehow thrown over the two sets of cta train tracks that are fenced in on the median and been knocked to the shoulder on the south side of the e/b lanes.Thrown around quite severely BUT it sure seemed to survive in good shape. The handle is the only part in need of replacement as it was flat as a pancake and looked like two flat strips of aluminum. The hoop and the yolk had survived having sustained some road rash but both had retained their original shape/form. The bag we had on the net had only six broken strands along the top row of netting were the hoop is threaded. This can be easily remedied by threading the hoop through the second row of netting. Some quick maneuvering and he had another net of mine to use on his trip via a second party also headed to vermillion while we wait to get a replacement handle from beckman for the road weary net. I just couldnt stand to see the net lost without at least going to look and see if it can be found as it was a gift from me to him last year. It was worth it. Kudos to the Beckman Net Co. and their products as this net was surely driven over several times over several hours by Chicago rush hour traffic for over three hours and came through in rather good and certainly usable condition. Thanks, Karloutdoors Edited by KARLOUTDOORS 7/17/2005 3:17 AM

Posts: 103 Location: Miller time Wisconsin. | "Get the Frabil"? NOT !!! Get the Beckman !! This reminds me of a short handled Beckman salmon net I wanted to convert to a long handled muskie net. I took it over to the Beckmans brothers shop to see what they could do for me. Long story short---They replaced my short handle with a nice long one and installed a thumb clip as well--all free of charge. I must also say that they are 2 of the nicest fellas I have run into. That was back in the late 90s but I still have and use that same net today. "Holy cow pete, get the Beckman get the Beckman. Pete, shall I Beckman that up? Slobo, we need the Beckman"

Posts: 32902 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Beckman Nets is no longer owned by the same folks. Still a great product, but if I remember correctly Sam Anderson bought the company, and subsequently sold interest to Lindy, I believe. And one can safely bet one's muskie tackle Pete will be netting his slobbos with a Frabill.

That was very apperent in last weeks show. They worked in a big whole plug about Frabil resurecting the cradle/net. I'm sure Frabil is a good net, but its just old hearing "should I Frabil that up?" 50 times per show...haha I was thinking the same thing about Beckman bros selling off the biz, but i could not remeber the details. Thanks for the clarification Well, I am off to enjoy a Johnsonville (with a Linnies of course)

It is the only show that I will tape if I am unable to watch when it is aired. I love that show. However, I do get a chuckle out of all the plugs he makes. I fully understand the sponsorship neccessities. Okay?
