Posts: 117 | Here are some of the lures that I've been working on this fall. These are 9" flat sided shallow cranks, floating. All made out of old cedar hydro poles (I'm a lineman so it's easy to get lol). I've been playing with metallic and glow in the dark foils. You can add a lot of interesting designs with this technique! Let me know what color you like out of these? Or what is your favorite color pattern? I also have made a bunch of musky lure bottle openers, which are always fun. | Like them all! Really cool to think that the wood is recycled poles. Cedar is one of natures wonders.

Posts: 117 | Thanks everyone! Yes, I'm always amazed at the resilience of cedar. We have all sorts of treatments for other hydro poles, and cedar we basically cut and stick into the ground, and it can sit there for 80 years with maybe a bit of shell rot. The crews know I make lures and every once in a while, I get to my house at the end of a day and can see a couple chunks of big old cedar poles beside my shop. I love it! Scolitario, that is a great idea! I don't know why i haven't done that yet! I actually have one that didn't turn out so great, I'm going to put a line tie on it and see how it runs! I will report back. Maybe it will leave a trail of bubbles or something cool.

Posts: 117 | Well if you like possible strange things that might catch muskies, I'm your guy lol. I have made all kinds of (mostly bad) one off lures. I attempted a 'fouled' bulldawg lure, after I kept getting follows when my bulldawg would foul itself on a hook. I have tried a giant giant popper, which also got some crazy follows and a couple strikes. I made a lure that can fit an entire go pro hero inside lol. I wanted to get a fish strike on camera, like inside them mouth. Haven't quite got it yet. This was my latest idea lol. You know the fad of the dice lures in bass fishing.... well maybe it would confuse a musky enough to hit! Attachments ---------------- block.jpg (113KB - 1 downloads)
