I am primarily fishing in stained water (about 2 feet of visibility) in a heavily pressured lake (mostly by bass fisherman) with the primary forage being gizzard shad, yellow perch, and panfish. I have a decent selection of bucktails and was wondering which ones I should use when. To my understanding, the black skirt orange blade, pink and yellow bladed one, detonator (13/10 with copper blades), mayhem jr 4 (the quadruple bladed one), and black skirt with black blades would be the best bet for my typical fishing scenarios because darker colors and painted/darker metallic blades work better in stained water and bigger/staggered blades provide more vibration to fish in low-visibility conditions and pressured conditions. There's just so much information and I'm not sure what I should use when.

As Mr. Ramsell told me once: "The muskies make all the rules, and they ain't talking!"
Any one of those will get you a fish at the right time and place. You just need to find that fish. m

When all else fails throw a small Mepps #5 or the small size Musky Killer or Giant Killer. Experiment with colors.

From what I read in your post you already have a good idea as far as color and lure choices go. The only thing I would add is use the bait that would throw off the most vibration because in stained water I think sound is more important than color. Keep in mind to pick out a lure color to make it easier for you to see instead of the fish. In this way, as the bait approaches, you might be able to spot a follower. Kdawg

Lure color really matters the least when considering all factors. Throw them all until you get confidence in some of them.

Agreed on the blacks, fluorescents, golds in really stained water (but I'm sure silver can produce too). On pressured water I've had luck downsizing and maybe throwing stuff that less people are throwing.

My take would be for colored blades in dark water. The fluorescent oranges, chartreuse, copper, and golds.

In dark water, it takes a bit longer for fish to lock onto the Sonics and track your presentation. A staggered pattern of blades from a spinnerbait, with a slow roll presentation just may give you an advantage for more fish contacting your baits!

I’d take blade size/combo into consideration before color. Overly simple rule would be big blades generally I fish slower, smaller baits usually faster. Obviously either can do both, but that’s usually my starting point. You can make some patterns like heavy chop/stained water the bigger you want your blades, but it’s really a day to day thing. Especially if you are fishing a bucktail heavy lake like vermilion/lake of the woods/ect there’s a reason why guys have a tackle shop worth of different blade combinations with them. Really it’s a matter of trying baits until you get some feedback from the fish.

That’s part of why I really like the one from angling revolution. Between the square clevis giving the bait some great sound and the fact you can change the blades out to make whatever combo you want, makes it a lot easier to play around and make whatever sort of color and blade combo they are liking that day. Those have been by a long shot my best bucktails the last 2 seasons, especially on heavily pressured lakes.
